In 1973, those passionate about diving had a new badge of honor: the Master Scuba Diver certification. With the launch of the first ever non-instructional rating, PADI laid the foundation for better, more effective training, a safer sport and the diverse range of specialties that exist today. With a nautical theme inspired by the 70’s including a hard helmet and octopus tentacles, this cozy, organic tee is perfect for everyone who much prefers time under the surface.

Part of PADI Gear’s Vintage Collection: 1973
In 1973, PADI introduced the industry’s first non-instructional rating. Master Scuba Diver was awarded to Senior Advanced Divers who had completed six specialty ratings choosing from Underwater Photography, Cave Diver, Ice Diver, Wreck Diver, Search and Recovery Diver, Deep Diver, Research Diver, and Equipment Specialist, laying. While there weren’t as many specialties to choose from, this laid the foundation for PADI’s diverse and broad range of specialties today.
